TOC is used in a variety of applications from management of wastewater treatment plant influent and effluent, to drinking water supply management and monitoring of impurities in process and natural waters. And the range of applications in which this type of on-line technology is used is expected to continue expanding. In addition, because nitrogen is considered to be one of the factors which contributes to the over-proliferation of organisms in enclosed bodies of water, management of these public water sources and of treatment plant influent and effluent also includes demand for monitoring of nitrogen levels.
